Being faithful trusting of a something that has a bad track record is being foolish.
There is right and wrong, there is being wise or stupid. Bravery can be confused with being foolhardy. Hardheaded (can a positive thing if realistic) person often think they are acting on faith, while just being stupid while heading for a beatdown.
